Inaugural US National Gravel Championships to take place in 2023

USA Cycling confirmed today that the inaugural U.S. National Gravel Championships will take place in 2023, but a date and location are yet to be determined.

Eighteen national championships will be held in 2023. These events cover all cycling disciplines as well as collegiate, amateur and disabled categories.

The locations and dates for 12 of the 18 games were announced today as part of a seven-year deal with Knoxville, Tennessee, which last hosted the Pro Road Nationals in June.
“It has been an incredible achievement and honor to host USA Cycling since 2017,” Visit Knoxville President Kim Bumpas said in a statement.

“This year will be the final year of our current agreement and we will warmly welcome our riders back in the future. We have a very strong relationship with USA Cycling and look forward to seeing exciting events in Knoxville in 2023.”

The Pro Road Nationals will be held June 22-25. The current US National Pro Road Champions are Kyle Murphy (L39ion, Los Angeles) and Emma Langley (EF Education-Tibco SVB). The defending champions of the time trial are Leah Thomas (who will be retiring from cycling in 2023 to focus on recovering from an ongoing neck injury) and Lawson Craddock (Team BikeExchange Jayco). The defending champions are Kendall Ryan (L39ion, Los Angeles) and 19-year-old prodigy Luke Lamperti (Trinity Racing).

The Collegiate Road Nationals will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico in May. Athletes will take on the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains at the Amateur Road National Championships in Roanoke, Virginia, June 13-17. Junior, Elite and Para track and field events will be held at the VELO Sports Center in Carson, California.

There will also be a Gran Fondo Championship in Pennsylvania, a BMX event in Bakersfield, California, and the iconic Trexlertown Collegiate Track Championship.

To wrap up the 2023 season, the Motocross Nationals return to Louisville, Kentucky, home of the 2018 U.S. National Motocross Championship and the 2013 UCI World Motocross Championship.
